ASSOCIATION OF ISLAMIC FOSTERING (AIF)

The Association of Islamic Fostering is a body set up by Foster Care Link to serve the interests of a) Muslims that work in the fostering field, b) children in foster care and c) ordinary Muslim foster carers. We hope to register AIF as a charity soon with the Charities Commission. Below is an outline of what AIF hopes to achieve:

AIMS

The aims of the Association are:

To create awareness of fostering issues in the UK Muslim community
To encourage more Muslims to become foster carers
To research and serve the needs of Muslim children in foster care
To research and serve the needs of Muslim foster carers
To become the central representative body for Muslims in the field of foster care

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the Association are:

To initial a widespread awareness campaign on fostering issues amongst the UK Muslim community, working with Mosques, community groups, voluntary organisations and Islamic institutions
To initiate a recruitment drive amongst the Muslim community, substantially increasing the number of Muslim foster carers
To commission research on Muslim fostering issues for the benefit of Muslim children in foster care and Muslim foster carers
To publish a quarterly newsletter as well as leaflets, research reports, pamphlets and books on Muslim fostering issues to be widely circulated
To work closely with leading bodies in the fostering field to ensure that the Muslim voice is heard

If you feel that you can help us meet the above aims and objectives please get in touch with us so that we can work together. As the Islam and Fostering webpage illustrates, fostering is a cause promoted by Islam, so Muslims should and can take the lead in this important and worthwhile field.
